Punch

A monkey named Punch was born in July26, 2025 at Ichikawa Zoo in the Japan. The monkey has become a center of attention in all the social media platforms and news headlines. Punch is a Japanese macaque which means a snow monkey.

 

If We could recollect the theory of evolution of humans in the work of ON THE ORIGIN OF SPECIES By Charles Darwin, it gives an understanding that homo sapiens have not originated on own but rather through a shared lineage with apes and other primates.


 



The baby monkey Punch is abandoned by his own mother. Despite the fact that monkey community raise their children with a lot of love and care. And this could be one of the exceptional cases in the history of ethology.

 

The photographs, video clips of Punch are ample evidence to acknowledge the deserted and wretched state.  Zoo has taken this situation into a serious consideration and has given the baby monkey with an Djungelskog brand orangutan. Punch have it not just as a stuffed toy but as his companion and as a replacement of his own mother. Anywhere it moved around it carried the toy. Lied down in the orangutan. Baby punch has been occasionally ostracized by other macaques, but he was mentally strong.

 

Human beings and Monkeys could be analyzed parallelly, in the sense individuals may feel neglected, rejected and alienated by others but to our surprise monkeys are one on same in experiencing all this. Firstly, the key idea of the zoo keepers in not letting the monkey melancholic anymore is remarkable.  Secondly, one must keenly observe the cognitive ethology of Punch in adaptive to the coldness of his mother. It’s born only with the ability to adapt to the extreme cold weather and made to be adaptive to the harshness of its own species.

  Body shaming has, unfortunately, become all too common in the 21st century. It takes real courage to help someone feel good about themselves, and only a few people actually do it. Regardless of age, we can all feel numb at times. There are days when I question if I’m physically fit enough.   As a child, I always dreamt of becoming a teacher. I remember draping a shawl like a saree and pretending to teach in an empty hall, my voice echoing back as if an invisible classroom were listening.
