Valentine’s Day
It’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow. I have not celebrated it in my 23 years of life, but I still wish to shed some light on it. I have always admired couples around me the beauty of eye contact between them, the cautious distancing, and the cutest of all, the height difference.
Girls are always their dad’s little princesses. They are pampered at almost all ages. The love is unconditional this is known and admired by others. From a girl in the womb, carried by her mother for nine months, to the phase where her boyfriend carries her heavy bag, love is just magnificent.
Love is meant to be felt. Emotions need to be acknowledged, and efforts should be respected. Boyfriends and girlfriends out there spend a lot on Valentine’s Day. I’m neither for nor against it. But I genuinely think love is built on understanding and living in reality. Social media buzz often drives people crazy to an extent where feelings are validated or approved only through gifting. Every well-to-do person can opt for it, as money isn’t a big deal for them. Definitely, gifting would not be a task of consternation for them but what about a man or woman who is in love and hasn’t started earning yet, or earns less?
Are the feelings of love for a person directly proportional to the lover’s capability to fulfill set expectations? Or are they based on the ability to choose someone over and over again, even after knowing their worst side?
A long-distance relationship is blessed. They don’t meet often; they don’t hold hands often but they hold the memory of once-held hands every now and then. It tests how long one can wait and how far one is willing to travel for their loved one.
Life is sometimes boring for me, but I wish that couples amidst fights, struggles, misunderstandings, and the fear of losing their loved one choose to inject their heart shape with a whole lot of felicity.
